A detail-oriented and analytical professional with experience supporting or conducting investigations and analyzing complex data sets. You bring a strong understanding of investigative processes, legal considerations, and data analysis tools, along with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies. You are a clear communicator who can translate findings into actionable insights and support investigative teams in advancing mission-critical work.
How You Will Make an Impact
As an Investigative Analyst, you will play a key role in assisting investigations involving fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct. You will analyze data, develop insights, and support investigative activities that uphold accountability and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Conduct background research, database queries, and open-source reviews to support administrative and criminal investigations.
- Examine and analyze investigative documents, financial records, electronic data, grant information, and other records to identify relevant facts, trends, anomalies, and potential indicators of fraud or misconduct.
- Assist with allegation intake, preliminary assessments, and documentation to support investigative leads and case development.
- Maintain accurate and organized case files, digital evidence repositories, and investigative records.
- Assist investigators in preparing interview materials, compiling evidence packets, documenting case activities, and drafting referral memoranda.
- Prepare analytical summaries, timelines, charts, data visualizations, written reports, case briefings, and status updates for investigators and leadership.
- Track investigative milestones and deadlines, collaborate with investigators and other stakeholders, and coordinate subject matter expert reviews as needed.
- Support preparation of semiannual report content related to investigative activities.
- Follow applicable federal laws, regulations, investigative standards, and NSF OIG policies while protecting sensitive information.

Here's What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience conducting or supporting investigations or analyzing complex data sets
- Knowledge of investigative techniques, legal procedures, and law enforcement protocols
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, data visualization tools)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with the functions, operations, and objectives of an Office of Inspector General (OIG) or similar oversight organization highlydesired
- Must successfully complete NSF required personnel security checks and obtain NSF Personnel Security Office approval before accessing sensitive NSF information or IT systems. Must maintain confidentiality and follow applicable NSF/OIG security protocols
